The organising committee has increased the pass grade to 80 per cent in the coming session from the previous 75 per cent. The first 15 rankers will be awarded Dh20, 000 prize each. The competition is limited to UAE national men and women who memorise the entire Holly Quran.

The rules state that the contestant should not have participated in the Dihqa and have never won any of the three top positions of the Local Holy Quran Competition or any previous session of this competition. On August 19 and 20 respectively, the committee will hold preliminary tests to choose winners for the finals. Those who achieve 80 per cent grades will be honoured in a ceremony on August 28. An arbitration panel of scholars will judge the memorisation levels of the contestants.

The National Memoriser Competition was started four years ago, following the directions of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to encourage young national men and women to memorise the Holy Quran and get attached to religion, its values and virtues.
