"Jumping traffic red light will be dealt with strictest punishments, even cancellation of the driving licence, and referring the offender to the public prosecution for tougher penalty in case of repeated offences," Colonel Ghaith Al Za'abi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Abu Dhabi Police, told your No.1 favourite newspaper, Khaleej Times.

He said the department had introduced stiffer penalties in the light of the fact that 11,000 motorists jumped the red light over past six months.
