The court also ordered the 50-year-old Palestinian be deported on completion of his jail term. The defendant earlier admitted in the court to having molested the American woman but claimed he had done so only to calm her down.

The receptionist was accused of molesting the woman during her stay in the hotel by grabbing her hand, fixing her to the wall and kissing her twice on her cheek. The incident, according to court records, took place on October 2 last year in a hotel in Muraqqabat.

An Indian supervisor at the same hotel confirmed that the incident had taken place about 9.30pm on that day.

“I was on duty at that time when I saw the defendant following the guest (plaintiff) at the swimming pool in the gym,” he claimed.

The supervisor added that he was surprised to see the receptionist grabbing the guest’s hand and making her sit for a while. “She screamed for help. It seemed that the receptionist was harassing her,” the witness said.

The supervisor alleged in his statement to the police and the public prosecution officers that the woman asked him to call the security. “She wanted them to accompany her to her room to avoid the defendant,” he added. She then called the police.

The plaintiff told the cops that the receptionist grabbed her on that day, put her against the wall and kissed her. When she tried to free herself he grabbed her hand again and kissed her one more time. She claimed that he dragged her and made her sit next to him.
