RCS wraps up relief package for Somalia

ABU DHABI — The UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) has completed the second phase of distribution of relief material as part of the humanitarian aid programme aimed at ameliorating the health and living conditions of a large population in Somalia.

The distribution was in line with the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and with the support of General Shaikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The Somali Minister of Interior, Mohammad Mahmoud Juliet, has lauded UAE’s support for the Somali people in the midst of hardships.

He appreciated UAE’s relief programmes and RCS’s relentless humanitarian assistance.

As much as 700 tonnes of rice, 600 tonnes of sugar, and 200 tonnes of flour, in addition to thousands bottles of cooking oil were sent for distribution among Somalis.
