RCS team to perform 30 open heart surgeries

RABAT— The UAE Red Crescent Society’s heart surgeons’ team will perform 30 open heart surgeries in Rabat under the Zayed charity programme.

The ongoing humanitarian mission is being carried out under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society.

The RCS delegation, which is headed by Dr Saleh Mousa Al Taei, acting secretary- general, arrived in Rabat yesterday.

It comprises Dr Adel Al Shamri, Chairman of World Heart Surgery Team, and 25 international doctors and executives.

Al Taei said in a statement yesterday that the delegation’s visit to Morocco was aimed at extending free medical services to a number of patients and training Moroccan medical teams specialised in heart diseases and arteries.

He said that the delegation would hold symposiums, training programmes, international conferences about heart diseases.

Al Taei indicated that the delegation’s visit to Morocco is a great opportunity to meet a number of officials of the Moroccan Red

Crescent Society and discuss related issues with them.

Dr Al Shamri said that the RCS volunteer doctors’ team included some of the best surgeons from the UAE, Canada, South Africa and France.
