RCS praised for relief work in Iraq

ABU DHABI - The Federation of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has praised the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) for its consistent efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people of Iraq.

The commendation for the UAE's humanitarian body was made at a meeting of the federation currently under way in Geneva.

The federation also expressed gratitude to the UAE for accepting to host a meeting of donor countries in Abu Dhabi in October this year.

The federation also commended the role of the UAE as a focal point for relief activities in the region, according to Khalifa Nasser Al Suweidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Red Crescent Society.

Mr Al Suweidi is leading the RCS delegation to the Geneva meeting.
