The programme is part of the RCA’s tireless efforts to extend aid to the Palestinians reeling under the strife-torn situation and to improve their living conditions.

It is being implemented as part of the concern of the UAE leadership — led by the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and supported by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, who is also chairman of the RCA — for the brotherly Palestinian people, Dr Saleh Moussa ZAl Ta’ai, secretary-general of the RCA, said yesterday.

Dr Al Ta’ai said the authority had coordinated with a number of entities inside the Palestinian territories to distribute meat of the slaughtered sacrificial sheep and goats to the needy people in the cities and target areas.

Arrangements were in full swing to supply the required quantities of meat as well as identifying the needy families, he said.

Preparations had been made in coordination with the UAE embassies in Syria, Palestine and Jordan to distribute the sacrificial animals to the targeted Palestinian families in the refugee camps in these countries, said Saleh Mohammed Al Mulla, deputy secretary-general of the RCA for relief and schemes affairs.

The authority had transferred the money required to purchase and distribute the sacrificial animals under the programme, which would continue during the three days of Eid celebrations, he added.
