The donation is in implementation of instructions of President H.H. Shaikhh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Gen. Shaikhh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and follow up of H.H. Shaikhh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and RCA Chairman.

The assistance is part of the UAE’s efforts to improve the humanitarian and living conditions of the Palestinians.

A convoy of vehicles (18 state-of-the-art ambulances and 103 vehicles) left Jebel Ali port today for Gaza through Rafah Crossing. The assistance of vehicles, costing Dh 13 million, will be used by the Palestinian Ministry of Social Affairs to support operations of its institutions taking care of people with special needs, orphans and the underprivileged. Given the huge damage that hit the health sector in Gaza during the recent bombardment, the RCA has decided to offer these ambulances to upgrade the capacities of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society. A number of ambulances will go to other health and social facilities including the UNRWA. RCA Secretary General Mohammed Khalifa Al Qamzi said the large number of vehicles to Gaza marks a qualitative leap in the RCA assistance programmes in Palestine.

He thanked the good doers who offered the donations during the fund-raining drive the RCA launched during the recent war on Gaza.
