In a ceremony held at the Centre today, Qatari Ambassador Abdullah Mohammed Al Othman received the award on behalf of Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani from H.H. Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Head of the Centre.
Shaikh Ahmed said after giving away the award that His Highness the Emir of Qatar was selected for the award in recognition of his great efforts in the humanitarian and development spheres both in the regional and international levels.
‘With His Highness the Emir of Qatar, the Award has come a step closer towards achieving its goal of spreading awareness about importance of interdependence and the betterment of the human life,’ he added.
Shaikh Ahmed wished the Emir and people of Qatar further prosperity and progress.
Shaikh Hamad played solitary as well as joint roles in coordination with influential institutions in strengthening security and stability in several Arab, Asian and African countries, thus averting conflicts and battles and their devastating effects on human beings in those countries.
He launched political and humanitarian initiatives for fence mending and reconciliation in a number of countries, including Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, Eritrea, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
The award instituted by RPTC early in 1996 has recognised exceptional personalities who have made valuable contributions towards for the welfare of the humanity irrespective of colour, creed and gender.
