Ramadan Delights: Lebanese Cuisine - Fish in Harra Sauce

The sweetness of the peppers and the sourness of the tomatoes lend themselves perfectly to the local fish of choice

Fish in Harra Sauce

Serves: 4


1 Kg Hammour

300 gm Tomatoes (chopped)

200 gm chopped Red and green bell peppers

100 gm Red onion

30 gm chopped Green chili

300 gm peeled Tomatoes

30 gm coriander

60 gm Garlic (crushed)

10 gm Pine nuts

Parsley for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste


Heat a pan and add olive oil. Add onions and minced garlic and cook for 5 minutes. Add capsicum and when it turns brown, add peeled tomatoes and mix well. Add salt and pepper and leave it on a low flame.

In a medium hot oven, bake the fish with some salt and pepper for about 20 minutes or until the fish is cooked.

Pour hot sauce over the fish, garnish with lemon slices, toasted pine nuts and chopped parsley. Serve with rice cooked separately.
