RAK Rotary Club Inaugurated

RAS AL KHAIMAH - The Rotary Club of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) was inaugurated on Thursday in a function held at Al Hamra Fort in Ras Al Khaimah, a media release stated.

The function was organised under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAK Customs and Ports Department.

Governor for Rotary District 2,450, Zakaria Al Shafei presented the Rotary Charter to the office bearers of the new club at the inaugural dinner, which was attended by over 150 people.


The new Rotary Club of Ras Al Khaimah will be part of Rotary International, a worldwide service organisation with 1.2 million members from 160 countries

Al Shafei said that the Rotary Club of RAK is the youngest club in the Gulf under Rotary District 2450, which spreads across nine countries and has 132 Rotary clubs under it.


“I have great pleasure in welcoming Rotary Club of Ras Al Khaimah to become part of an organisation dedicated towards creating world understanding and peace through humanitarian services and other initiatives. ”

“Rotary International has an incredible pool of talent who dedicates part of their time and activities to make a difference in the lives of people in their communities and even beyond their boundaries,” he added.

Guy Makki, president of the Rotary Club of RAK, said the club intends to help support certain needs within Ras Al Khaimah and across the world through medical, educational, social and charitable initiatives. He said the club would meet every Tuesday.

Dr Khater Massaad, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority and Vice President of Rotary Club of RAK, said, “The development march of Ras Al Khaimah is progressing well and all of its projects are on track. During the last four years, RAK has been able to achieve a fantastic 15 per cent average yearly growth. ”
