The 63-year-old Shaikh Sultan bin Saqr was the second eldest son of His Highness Shaikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Mohammed Abdul Karim, a resident of Kharran, said the emirate has lost a man of kindness and unique character, who was also very friendly to people.
“Shaikh Sultan was friendly to everyone and it is hard to replace him. Despite being a prince, he was approachable by everyone and gave respect to all those who socialised with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” said Karim.
Another Emirati Ahmed Abdullah Al Shihi said Shaikh Sultan was a generous person and his love for the poor people will never be forgotten.
“I frequently visited the Shaikh at his home and in his office, and I always found him chatting with the poor people, including Emiratis and residents. Shaikh Sultan always solved the problems of the needy and poor people in the emirate,” he added.
Ismail Yunus, a Ugandan expatriate in Ras Al Khaimah, said Shaikh Sultan was a man of unique personality. “He was so friendly and I always received warm welcome whenever I visited him at his home. I remember one night when he found me walking at night as I looked for a taxi and stopped his vehicle. He offered me a drive to my home,” he added.
Yunus said that the Shaikh’s love for the poor people was enormous and he always asked him about the condition of the poor people in Africa whenever he would talk to him.
“He has helped several Muslims in our country. I can never forget such a good-hearted man in my life. May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace,” Yunus added.
Emirati Ali Hamid said that during the time when Shaikh Sultan was still in government offices, he helped many Emiratis to get jobs and to acquire new houses.
Shaikh Sultan had served in several government offices in Ras Al Khaimah, including heading the emirate’s Armed Forces.
