Sheikh Jaber held office as the Prime Minister from 2011 until 2019
Shaikh Talib bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Commander-In-Chief of the Ras Al Khaimah Police, has instructed the department to increase patrols in the night to take action against the motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol. The instruction comes after a number of fatal accidents during the last three months on highways and internal roads of the emirate.
The police official said most of the recent fatal accidents were caused by reckless drivers, drunk drivers and those who violate the traffic safety rules. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Col. Abdullah Ali Mukhanas, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department, said that the department has formed different committees to supervise and monitor the inspection, especially during the night time.
According to the latest amendment in the Federal Law of Traffic, 2007, the motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol can be sentenced to imprisonment and fines and 24 black points in their licence, in addition to confiscation of the vehicle for 60 days.
