RAK officials discuss ways to monitor livestock prices

RAS AL KHAIMAH — The Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah (DED) has held a meeting with officials from key departments to discuss the livestock trade and ways of regulating and monitoring their prices.

The meeting discussed the situation created by arbitrary hikes in the general prices of goods in the emirate especially animals, eggs and cooking gas by the dealers despite repeated warnings by the DED.

The meeting was attended by officials of the RAK Municipality and representatives from the custom service, ports and the Ministry of Economy, Department of Trade and Licensing Section, consumer protection, intellectual property and the Department of Inspection Services in Ras Al Khaimah.

Prof Hassan Al Kim, the Director of DED, said that terms and conditions to regulate trade in livestock especially determining the general pricing of all the livestock products were formulated.

They discussed the need for combined efforts to have close cooperation with other countries regarding the procedures governing the import and export of livestock, and determination of prices.

The officials also agreed on conducting regular meetings to discuss various issues related to the economy and consumer protection.
