RAS AL KHAIMAH - New traffic lights have been installed and more pedestrian crossings marked on all major roads in Ras Al Khaimah.
Captain Juma Ahmed, a senior official in the Ras Al Khaimah Traffic and Licensing Department, said the Traffic Department had decided to install traffic signals and radars even on the roads that did not fall within the purview of the strategic plan of Ministry of Public Works for expansion of roads in the emirate.
“Due to the increased population and traffic in the emirate, there is need to adjust the traffic control systems to match with the current growth of the emirate,” he added.
Capt Ahmed noted that several people had died and many others were injured in road accidents, especially when pedestrians were knocked down by cars while crossing the roads at undesignated places.
