However, those with proper residency documents are promptly released after verification.

Recently, more than 80 illegal workers were arrested in a day from various parts of the emirate, especially the city centres.

Lt-Col. Sultan Al Nuaimi, head of the Naturalisation and Residency Department in Ras Al Khaimah said the inspection campaign has been intensified as there has been an increase in crimes involving illegal workers.

He stressed that most of the illegals arrested in the recent operations were of Asian, Arab and African origins. Lt-Col. Al Nuaimi stressed that over 600 illegals have been arrested in Ras Al Khaimah since the amnesty period ended late last year. “A majority of these were visit visa violators and have been already deported,” he added.
