JAIPUR — Rajasthan’s main opposition Congress has threatened statewide protests against the failure of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to start relief work in drought affected areas.
“Till now, 1.5 million people should have been provided jobs in the drought hit areas. But the government has so far given jobs to only 225,000 people,” said state Congress president B.D. Kal7la. The government has declared 10,529 villages drought affected. Unemployment, hunger and drinking water problems were widespread, but the government was "sleeping", said Kalla.
