Dr Mohammed Mutee Al Hafez, head of the Holy Book Section of the Dubai Auqaf and Islamic Affairs Department, told Khaleej Times. "Shaikh Maktoum desired a well-designed version of the Holy Book with novel calligraphy, perfect design, printing and binding.

"The script had been written over a period of two years by a master calligrapher who has won a number of international prizes for his work. Two major committees were formed to execute the project. The first panel consisted of scholars from Dubai Auqaf to follow the progress of work from the scientific and linguistic perspectives, while the second one comprised prominent scholars from Egypt, Morocco and Syria for monitoring and approval."

Dr Al Hafez said that the new version was finally presented to major Islamic institutes, including Al Azhar in Egypt, and Auqaf ministries for final approval.

He said the new version of the Holy Book will be released on Tuesday at a special ceremony organised by the Dubai Auqaf and Islamic Research House at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
