Quran contest winners honoured

SHARJAH — The International School of Creative Science (ISCS) held a special ceremony at the Sharjah Cultural Palace recently to honour winners of its Annual Quran Competition.

The prize-giving ceremony was held under the patronage of Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Sharjah Civil Aviation Authority and Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah.

Commenting on the schools initiative to nurture Islamic values in its students, the ceremony’s patron Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani said, “It is truly a pleasure to see students at such an early age, eager to learn Islamic values and memorise the Holy Book. It was even more rewarding to see the level of will and motivation among the students involved in the challenge.”

A range of cash prizes and scholarships were awarded to the winners of the competition in four categories.

The first winner in the category of memorising the holy Quran was Maryam Abdul Rashid who received a 3 -year scholarship at the ISCS, in addition to a cash prize of Dh8,000.

The winner of 20 parts category was Yusuf Adjar Qureshi who received a two-year scholarship with a cash prize of Dh6,000. Winners in other categories were given prizes ranging from Dh 1,000 to Dh 4,000.
