The step was taken to achieve greater diversity and quality in the range of activities and events that the Club organises. It is also believed that it will help foster interaction with regional and international media companies already based in Dubai Media City.
Mona Al Marri, Executive Manager of Dubai Press Club, said: "Dubai Media City represents an ideal location for the Dubai Press Club because it is home to the majority of media organisations operating in the UAE. Being situated where all the action is will undoubtedly enable the Club to function more effectively and promote communication with these media corporations.
This is a planned move, over the past year we have been conducting opinion surveys in which this move was welcomed by 80 per cent of the journalists whose opinion was sought in this regard. It represents a step forward towards a more successful and more interactive Club." There will also be additions to the facilities and services.
"The Press Club is moving to a larger area in a building that is currently under construction to enable greater indoor and outdoor activities from which both members and non-members will benefit," Al Marri said.
The executive manager also believes the planned relocation is taking place at a suitable time.
