“The international choice was made after the entire world has seen how the UAE respects the rights of workers, and how they have been provided with unique laws and best work conditions,” Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash, Minister of Labour and Chairman of the National Media Council told Khaleej Times.
Ghobash paid rich tributes to the president saying, “The President, and in all posts he assumed before he became President of the UAE, has made great achievements, which each and every UAE citizen is proud of.”
Besides Shaikh Khalifa’s distinctive personal qualities, Ghobash highlighted the positive steps he had taken after becoming president in 2004, when he supported the national investment economy, which resulted in the UAE becoming one of the economically successful countries. This, according to him, prompted businessmen and other governments to invest in the UAE.
“President Shaikh Khalifa has also succeeded in making the UAE figure prominently and occupy a distinguished place in the world, which by and large respects its stands on various international issues,” he said.
“This choice has been made by a major media organisation, which indicates that it has monitored the great media evolution and progress the UAE experiences under the leadership and sagacity of Shaikh Khalifa,” he reiterated.
Dr. Hadif bin Joaan Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice, said, “The choice is the culmination to the directives of the President on the need to work in the interest of UAE citizen, society and the international society.”
“As a result of these directives a revolution of legislations broke out, and which the UAE has implemented over the last five years,” he said.
Dr. Al Dhahiri said, “President Shaikh Khalifa has issued a variety of laws streamlining many social life matters, which made the international observers aware of the law systems the UAE enforces, as well as to protect whoever lives on its land, without differentiating between an Emirati, resident or visitor.”
Ahmed bin Shabib Al Dhahiri, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), said, “This choice was a culmination to the humane policy pursued by the president in dealing with man, on the one hand, and in preserving the environment, on the other, with the aim of achieving sustainable development.”
“Shaikh Khalifa succeeded the late Shaikh Zayed and is the best successor for a best predecessor. Therefore, he (Shaikh Khalifa) had succeeded within few years to keep in line with the latest developments of the age, and made achievements many countries could not realise in years,” he noted.
Dr. Naglaa Al Tinaiji, FNC member, said that the selection of Shaikh Khalifa among 50 Most Powerful Men in the World has been made after the entire world had seen his efforts in boosting the status of women in the country. Women in the UAE have become ministers, parliamentarians and judges, she said, adding that this shows that the leadership is fully aware of the need to benefit from women as an essential part of the society, and, like men, are capable of achieving and giving.abu dhabi — A number of high-ranking officials in the country have hailed the American magazine Newsweek’s choice of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as among the 50 Most Powerful Men in the World.
