Power failure in Al Nahda
The Al Nahda area in Sharjah yesterday night plunged into darkness following a major power outage.
Power went off at around 9pm and was not restored until the newspaper went to print.
A Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) official said power was disconnected temporarily to lay large power cables in the area. “Power has been turned out temporarily to carry out the expansion project,” the official pointed out, adding, the work would be completed in a few hours.
However, residents, especially office-goers who returned home in the night, were caught unawares due to the power outage.
