As a precautionary measure to ward off the disease, poultry imports from France, Iran, Egypt, Iraq, Cyprus and Nigeria will be banned until further notice, said Jassim Mohammed Darwish, Secretary-General of the UAE Municipalities.

The decision also stipulated that poultry consignments from other countries be accompanied by health certificates from countries of origin, stating that products are free from the deadly H5N1 strain.
