The Court of First Instance also gave one year imprisonment to 23-year-old Indian cleaner, TJ, and ordered his deportation afterwards for stealing 22 sick leave forms and illegally stamping them with the necessary seals of the doctors of the clinic and the Ministry of Health.

The policewoman identified as IS is believed to have used the forged documents and submitted them to the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence where she worked.

According to prosecution records, the forgery happened repeatedly from March 2010 till October last year and IS used the forged certificates to sustain her claims for sick leave.

An Emirati police captain told the prosecution that they knew IS’s sick leave certificates were forged.

The captain quizzed IS and she admitted that she had gone to a clinic in Sharjah seeking a medical certificate stating she was sick. But her request was turned down because she did not have a medical record there. Then she met TJ who offered to provide her with such certificate forms for sums of money. They had a deal and he did not tell her how he would secure the forms.

She would tell him on the phone that she needed the certificates and he would meet her later outside the clinic to give them to her. He would give her the certificate forms after having stamped them with the formal seals of the doctors and the Ministry of Health. She would pay him Dh50 or Dh100 each time.

The cleaner would mostly fill the forms with the necessary details such as the number of sick days and the medical condition behind the leave. And at other times IS would fill them up. The cleaner admitted in the investigation that he had stolen the forms from the clinic’s offices and stamped them while the doctors were away.
