The gang, comprising seven UAE nationals and six Arabs, aged between 18 and 26 years, was allegedly being contracted for a fee by some people to take revenge on others, said a police source. They operated in Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, he added.

A team of Ajman Police officers raided their flat in Al Qadisia in Sharjah yesterday. When the team reached the spot, the gang clashed with the policemen. Four of them tried to flee, but the police chased them until they were caught near the Ansar Mall in the emirate.

Brigadier Ali Majid Al Matroushi, Director-General of the Ajman Police, said, “We received a large number of complaints from people who were assaulted by this gang in Al Nuaimia and Al Zahra.”

“The team led by Major Abdullah Saif Al Matroushi, head of the CID, laid a trap to nab them when all of them were together in their flat in Al Qadisia. The Ajman Police in coordination with the Sharjah Police raided the premises and found three big hounds which the gangsters used to attack people. They also used knives and swords to intimidate people.”
