The 33-year old housemaid, JT, was rushed to the Umm Al Quwain Hospital by the police who were called in by MA's neighbours. JT, immediately after being allegedly assaulted by MA had run and locked herself in a bedroom. A little later, she escaped by jumping out of the bedroom window and screamed for help from passers-by in the neighbourhood.

JT, who has been in MA's employment for about a year and a half, claimed "I was often tormented by my employers over trivial matters or minor mistakes. I have not been paid my full wages. So far, I have received my salary for just seven months."

Asked about the details of the incident, she told Khaleej Times, "Last Saturday, I was busy ironing some clothes at my employer's home. Before I had finished, I was asked to do another chore. While I was engaged in the other job, MA's son came and started playing with the iron and suffered light burn injuries. My employer was furious and beat me up violently."

JT has already been questioned in the hospital by the police who are investigating further.

However, it is learnt that JT's sponsor arranged for Dh7,000 to be delivered to her in hospital yesterday — the amount being her salary arrears.
