Police media section in new building

DUBAI — The media section and community services departments of the Dubai Police has shifted to the new building of the Dubai Police Headquarters completed at a cost of Dh13 million.

The other departments are also expected to be shifted to the new premises soon. The building constructed over an area of 514 sq-ft comprises five stories and a basement.

The new complex near the existing Dubai Police Headquarters building was completed in 18 months. It houses a new advance Operations Room which is quipped with the latest technology.

Digital campus

DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has selected SunGard Higher Education Solutions to support the University's Integrated Business Information System (IBIS) modernisation project. The project aims to unify the university's business systems into a digital campus that helps provide increased constituent service.

"The project also provides the opportunity to offer a world-class infrastructure where administrative services, learning tools and collaboration facilities are seamlessly available to students, faculty and staff," said Dr Mugheer Al Khaili, UAEU's Secretary-General. "The Unified Digital Campus will bring people and process together and help establish operational excellence.”

Thuraya Recharge

ABU DHABI — The UAE-based Thuraya Satellite Telecommunications Company has introduced ThurayaRecharge, an online recharging system for its prepaid subscribers, allowing them to top up their credit balance

directly from mobiles by dialling a toll-free number.

The new system which is the latest value-added service from Thuraya, will enable prepaid subscribers to add credit to their accounts without the hassle of finding vendor locations that sell scratch cards. Subscribers can recharge their credit directly from their mobile phones any anytime from any location within Thuraya's coverage area.

The ThurayaRecharge service has been developed and managed by the UAE-based MVP Tech (Filfull) which is Thuraya's partner in the introduction of this new service.

To subscribe to the new service, Thuraya prepaid subscribers need to first log on to to register their details and credit card information.
