The highly entertaining poetry session drew an elite crowd of 800 people who enjoyed the poetry recited by 18 leading poets that included Dr Jareer Zorob (Arabic poetry), Adil Lucknavi, Ajmal Sultanpuri, Ms Ana Dehlavi, Anwar Jalalpuri, Balchand Triptahi, Hamid Bahraichi, Hosh Baskharvi, Dr Kaleem Qaiser, Ms Kirti Kale, Dr Rahat Indauri, Dr Suman Dubey and Mrs Kiran Varma.
Manab Hansda, Consul (Passports), Consulate General of India, Dubai, addressed the gathering and also hosted and conducted the programme which began with the recitation of poetry in Arabic by Dr Jareer Zaroob from Lebanon. This was followed by poetry recitation in Urdu and Hindi by other participating poets from India. The programme, said the organiser, was first of its kind in Fujairah and was held to commemorate the 55th Republic Day of India.
The Al Mulla Group of Companies was the main sponsor and Subhan Abdul Aziz, GM of Al Mulla Group, conceived the idea of the programme. Mrs K. Nasreen Jaffar, the chief organiser, thanked all the sponsors for their support and co-operation in making the event a success.
