Please don't block airport entrance: Cop to motorists

DUBAI — The Dubai Police Traffic Department is not looking to generate income by penalising errant parties in traffic accidents as some motorists would like to believe, First Lieutenant Ali Bilrashid, Head of the Traffic Movement in the department.

"We are looking to motorists' compliance with rules and regulations and caution at Dubai Airport entrances," he said, and urged motorists to understand the police practice of issuing tickets to help eliminate rush at the airport entrances. "If a car stops blocking the airport entrance even for ten seconds, it might delay passengers who could miss their flights," he said.

A total of 1408 tickets were issued last month, with parking in prohibited areas topping the list with 886 violations. Failing to abide by lane rules drew 388 tickets, 20 for failing to abide by instructions of policemen besides nine for failing to produce driving licence or car registration cards, among others.
