Pilot dies in military aircraft crash

RAS AL KHAIMAH — A UAE military aircraft crashed in Wadi Al Bih in Ras Al Khaimah on Monday morning, killing its pilot who was the only person on board.

A source said that the aircraft had earlier in the day flown to an area rocky mountains area near Wadi Al Bih, and was returning when it crashed at around 11.am

Official ushed to the site and began an investigation to determine the cause of the acciden, Wam reported.

Shaikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director of the RAK Civil Aviation Department told Khaleej Times that the aircraft belonged to the UAE Armed Forces and that no information about the cause of the crash had been established so far.

The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces said the Hawk military trainer aircraft belonged to the country’s Air Force and Air Defence. It was a routine training mission, according to a Wam report. — news@khaleejtimes.com
