PIA flies to Nairobi

DUBAI — The inaugural flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Airbus 310 flight from Karachi to Nairobi via Dubai was welcomed by the Department of Dubai Civil Aviation yesterday.

Buti bin Solaiman, General Manager, Ground Operations, DCA, welcomed the the VIP delegation, on board the flight. The delegation included, Secretary of Defence Pakistan, Lt General (Retd) Tariq Waseem Ghazi, Chairman Standing Committee of Senate, Nisar Memon, Director Marketing PIA, Kamran Hassan. PIA will operate two flights per week on Karachi-Dubai-Nairobi-Dubai-Karachi route.

“Dubai International Airport is the premier airport in the region. Being at the crossroads between the East and West, has also made us the busiest in the region. We offer the highest standards of service and facility to all our customers – both airlines and passengers,” said Solaiman.

Air Marshal (retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain, Ambassador of Pakistan in Dubai commented: “Pakistan has long-standing relations with the UAE which continues to grow stronger each year. This new flight will further boost our relationship because it will benefit not just Pakistan but also the UAE in terms of business and tourism.”

Tanveer A. Khan, General Manager, PIA, commented: “PIA is witnessing a very healthy growth. The airline has been revamped and has a new look now. We currently have 48 aircraft which include A310, 747-300, 777, Fokker, 737 etc. We are expecting five new 777 LRs soon along with some ATRs. Our passengers can look forward to more destinations and higher frequencies on our routes.”

With this new addition, PIA now operates 48 flights a week in and out of Dubai, making it the fourth largest operator at Dubai International Airport. Earlier on Monday, the PIA management hosted a grand dinner reception to celebrate the launch.
