PCFC in drive to ‘Clean up the World’

DUBAI — The Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) participated in the Global Day of ‘Clean up the World’ under the slogan ‘The Oceans & The Seas’.

With its constant efforts to keep the environment clean and safe, PCFC organised a number of functions along with departments, such as: Dubai Education Zone, Dubai Police Head Quarters, the Civil Defence and the Rescue Team of Dubai Municipality. The event was sponsored by some private sector firms.

Awatif Mohamed, head of Education Section at the Environment, Health & Safety Deptartment in PCFC said: “It is the top priority of the PCFC to ensure that the international measures are enforced” on the investing firms investing in JA and all other business units within the corporation”.

She added: “This function is one of many that the Education Section organises round the year to increase the environmental awareness”.

On the other hand, she said: “This year we have selected Hamriyah Fishing Port, to perform this function that many of the government and private school students have taken part in”.

Divers have removed six sunken boats in addition to tonnes of debris and solid wastes. Alongside this function, PCFC have organised a session to educate the fishermen on the danger of ocean pollution and its reflection on the Human living and ways of preserving the ocean resources.

She also mentioned that the EHSS has organised an art gallery a day before this function at Al Safa Park that attracted many of the students and all their paintwork were focused on the mother nature.

On the other hand, Awatif thanked the government departments and the private sector firms for contributing to such a successful function through their support.
