“Salaries have to be unified, irrespective of whether employees are nationals or residents. Any variation in this regard is unreasonable. National and federal employees should be dealt with on an equal basis,” said Education Minister Dr Hanif Hassan.

The minister's statement came in reply to questions raised by Federal National Council (FNC) members regarding the disparity in salaries paid to local and federal employees. Local employees receive higher salaries.

During a prolonged session held on Tuesday, the House also discussed the issue of scarcity of male national teachers, performance of technological and administrative institutions, vocational training for teaching staff and Emiratisation.

Dr Hassan said his ministry is keen on implementing a decentralisation policy to achieve a more transparent educational system in the country.
