Passport Only to Claim Grant
DUBAI - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has endorsed the need for hassle-free processing of the Dh1,000 grant for every displaced Filipino worker returning home after losing their jobs.
Addressing the Filipino community at Fairmont Hotel she said that Labour Secretary Marianito Roque had been instructed to allow every displaced Filipino to submit only their passport as proof of termination in lieu of the termination notice from their UAE employers. The swift decision came amidst complaints from the displaced workers who were not provided the grant because of the absence of termination papers. She urged all overseas Filipino workers to support each other during times of crisis.
