The accident occurred when the driver of a car lost control while trying to overtake another vehicle and ploughed into three pedestrians, all Pakistanis, near Al Manar Mall.
Eyewitnesses said that one of the victims succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Police and RAK Civil Defence teams rushed to the accident site and took the victims to Saqr Hospital. It took them several hours to clear the road. Police pointed out speeding and reckless driving as the cause of the accident.
