Pakistan air force chief decorated

ABU DHABI — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan conferred the Emirates Medal of the First Order on Chief of Pakistan’s Air Force Air Chief Marshal Tanveer Mehmood Ahmed in recognition of his contribution to the early stages of establishing the UAE Air Force and Air Defence and to boosting military cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan.

Air Marshal Tanveer was decorated yesterday evening by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, at a ceremony at Al Bateen Palace.

Gen. Shaikh Mohammed wished Air Marshal Tanveer all success in his future assignments and expressed hope that the UAE-Pakistan relations would see more progress and prosperity.

On his part, Air Marshal Tanveer thanked Shaikh Khalifa for the honour and praised the “great achievements which were made in the UAE under the leadership of the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shaikh Khalifa. He praised the unique status the UAE achieved in the international arena.

The ceremony was attended by Chief of Staff Lt.-General Hamad Al Rumaithi and Air Vice-Marshal Suwaidan Al Qamzi, Commander of UAE Air Force and Air Defence.
