Maria, Munir's wife, who's a Pakistani, received the sad news of the death of her father at 8.30 am in Quetta, Pakistan, yesterday. She wanted to rush to Pakistan with her husband and daughter. But the problem was that her husband and daughter hold Indian passports.

According to the procedure, visa applications of Indians, received by the Pakistan Consulate, are sent to Islamabad for approval, which could take days and even weeks. On top of that the consulate remains closed on Thursdays.

Nevertheless, Maria decided to approach the consulate as soon as she received the news of her father's death. When she contacted the consulate, it was opened and the officials concerned called from their homes to grant visa to her husband and daughter as instructed by Pakistani Consul General Abdul Hameed.

"We received the visas within an hour. I do not have words to thank the entire team at the Pakistan consulate who, by their prompt action, made it possible for me and my family to attend the funeral whose burial will take place after our arrival," said Maria.
