Pak ladies show culinary skills

DUBAI — The Pakistan Association Ladies’ Wing organised a cookery contest for its members and their guests recently at the InterContinental Hotel.

The event was attended by more than 170 ladies. Members of the association were given a choice to prepare vegetarian, non-vegetarian and sweet dishes using at least one ingredient from Nestle or Maggi.

Teenage girls were also given a chance to show their culinary skills in the category called Young Talent.

An overwhelming number of 55 ladies and girls participated.

The winners in the four categories were: (for desserts) Farzana Ihsan, Saeeda Tariq and Nasreen Shams. For the vegetarian cuisine: Sarwat Raheem, Shaheena Arif and Tahira Syed.

For the non-veg category: Nishat Naeem, Shaheen Sultan and Fareeda Muzaffar; and in the young talent, the winners were Rameeza Sayed, Mehwish Chara and Zahra Ahmed.

The four judges nominated to select the best dishes included Mrs Nirmal Khanna, Mrs Zaheen Baig, Mrs Mauazam Saleem and Mr Sunil, the executive chef of InterContinental Hotel.

Grand prizes including refrigerators, microwave ovens and water coolers were given away to winners.

Mrs Musarat Larik, wife of the Pakistani Consul-General in Dubai, distributed the prizes.

On the occasion, Anees Hussain of Excellence in Education presented an enlightening lecture on how to prepare students for college and university admission tests.
