A large number of people from the Pakistani community participated in the event with families and youngsters being among the participants of the variety programme. The association’s building wore a festive look with flashing lights beckoning the community to join in the celebrations and the country flag fluttering proudly at various spots.
The Ambassador of Pakistan, Air Marshal (retd) Syed Qaiser Hussain, the chief guest at the function, addressed the large gathering and commercial Counsellor Najee-ur-Rehman Abbassi and Press Consular Dr Mohammad Zafar Iqbal was also present at the occasion. Other speakers at the function were Najeebur Rehman Abbassi Commercial Consular, Shahidul Islam Khan, General Secretary of Pakistan Association, and Tanvirul Islam Khawaja, President of Pakistan Business Council Dubai.
The celebration started off with recitation from the Holy Quran. School children Bilal Shafqat, Imadul Islam and Saba won applause for their speeches and prizes were distributed among the audience during a quiz show. In the musical part of the event Alvin, T.J., Asim Shafiq, Mrs Shabana, Mrs Azhar, Zahid, Javed, Raheel Farooq Khan, Waris Rahi, and Basit enthralled the audience with national and folk songs.
