The Dubai Municipality is holding a drama contest for school students as part of a host of awareness activities to mark this year’s Ozone Day.

Announcing the contest for the private and government schools in the emirate, Municipality Environment Department Director Hamadan Al-Shaer said: “We should intensify and expand our moves to spread the message to protect the environment, given the volume of threat that global scenario of pollution poses before mankind.”

Al Shaer said that this year his department is making use of the International Ozone Day to educate youngsters that protecting the environment was everybody’s responsibility to help mankind.

The International Day for
the Preservation of the Ozone Layer fell on September 16 this year. Students from Dubai schools including government and private institutions may register for the drama contest.

The theme of the contest will be the slogan of this year’s Ozone Day: ‘A healthy atmosphere...The future we want’. Students can prepare the play either in Arabic or English and have to submit the CDs before October 24.
