The ‘Foreign Arts Residency’ programme enables talented Emirati citizens to enhance their skills, knowledge and experience through residency in a vibrant international artistic and cultural community for three months.

“We believe that this experience will expose them to new and different cultures and concepts in art, which will help them create and innovate,” said Ahmad Arshi, programme coordinator for Arts & Culture at the Emirates Foundation.

“The Emirates Foundation has developed the Foreign Residency approach to establish new generations of national artists open to international artistic influences,” he added. Three Emiratis, who were selected in May, are already in France under the same initiative.

Those selected in the current programme will leave in October 2009 for either Paris, to study and work alongside the Speos Photographic Institution, or in Dijon with Le Consortium Art Centre. — olivia@khaleejtimes.ae
