Rao said that the accident happened in the morning when the 55-seater school bus carrying boy students was on its way to the school's new boys campus in Al Warqa.

On its route, the bus skidded after it applied sudden brakes to avoid hitting a stationed trailor on the Emirates Road, Rao said, blaming the bad foggy weather and poor visibility for the accident.

“However, I am glad that the two students and the bus driver who suffered minor injuries were rushed to Rashid Hospital by Dubai Police, but were later discharged after medical treatment.

“It was not the driver’s fault. Infact, a bad accident was averted because of the driver's presence of mind by applying sudden brakes, but the bus skidded due to the wet road patch on the Emirates Road,” Rao said adding that the school takes action against erring drivers if an investigation report pins the blame of the accident on the bus driver.

But, in this case, it was a freak accident and the blame cannot be pinned on the driver, he expained.

“We have in the past issued warning or terminated the services of erring drivers,” he disclosed, adding, drivers working with the school have been demoted if found negligent while driving.
