ABU DHABI — Teams from Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a, won in both Regular and Open categories of the third edition of the National Robot Olympiad (NRO) held at Al Mawaheb School in the capital on Monday and Tuesday.
The winning teams will represent the UAE in the World Robot Olympiad to be held in Yokoyama, Japan, from October 31 to November 2.
The Regular category had ‘Recycle Keeper’ as theme and Open category had ‘Saving Global Environment’.
Exhibiting innovation, creativity and technological abilities, the Our Own High School teams solved a series of problems as per the rules and regulations set by the World Robot Olympiad. After inaugurating the Olympiad on Monday, Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec), told Khaleej Times that a new technical era would dawn when the Electronic Future Project (EFP) is launched to computerise all public schools in the emirate.
The EFP is in its initial stages as a project to modernise the schools in the emirate to meet the international standards, he said.
Supported by Edu-Tech Middle East and LEGO Education, the competition served as the training ground for the participating teams.
