The operettas highlighted the formation of the UAE as a union of seven emirates and how it achieved spectacular progress in a short span of over three decades under the wise leadership of the UAE Founder president, late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the continuance of the progress march under the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Several cultural programmes and traditional dances were also organised at different venues, attracting hundreds of people drawn from various nationalities.

The 34th UAE National Day celebrations were sponsored by Philips, Nestle, Culinary Guild, Jumeirah and Paris Gallery.

More than 10,000 giveaways and memorabilia were distributed among the visitors to shopping malls and public parks during the celebrations.
