DUBAI — Dubai police have received 455 job applications, since signing a memorandum of understanding with the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia), in April 2005, announced Lieutenant-General, Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.
However, when police officials tried to contact the applicants, they found that either the mobiles were switched off or the numbers were incorrect, he added. Some of them were not answering the phones either, he added.
Lt-Gen. Dhahi explained that 65 nationals who were supposed to complete their employment procedures didn't contact the department though they were informed of it one month back.
According to him only 16 nationals have accepted the jobs provided by the Dubai Police. About 100 nationals have begged off from joining certain police departments although they were offered jobs that suited their qualifications, he said.
"Who is responsible for the unemployment of UAE nationals?" he asked, while confirming that Dubai Police was keen to implement the emiratisation policies as per the instruction of UAE leaders to provide job opportunities to UAE nationals.
