One killed, another hurt in UAQ road accident

UMM AL QUWAIN — A 29-year-old Iranian national died on the spot and his 28-year-old driver was in critical condition when the vehicle they were travelling rammed into a heavy truck on Emirates Road in Umm Al Quwain on Tuesday night.

Captain Seif Salem Zayed, head of the Traffic Department at Al Salmah Police Station in (UAQ) blamed speeding and the inattentiveness of the driver for the accident.

He said the victims’ vehicle which was speeding, rammed into the rear part of the truck and got stuck underneath.

Police and the Civil Defence teams managed to remove both the occupants from the wreckage but the Iranian was found dead.

The driver was transferred to a government hospital in UAQ. Police officer urged motorists to be attentive while driving and to avoid speeding which is the main cause of the majority of accidents in the UAE.
