Many of them believe that the sole reason behind the unparalleled price is the recent hikes in salaries in both the government and private sectors. This hike in salaries in turn gave an opportunity to unscruplous traders to smell a chance to take advantage of the increased purchasing power in the hands of families.

What better way to do that than to put a premium on the prices of the products, raise them by 1 to 2 dirhams, especially on products like milk which everybody wants and nobody can do without, more so those with infants.

In Ajman, the phenomenon has become the talk of the town. Naturally, shopkeepers are not ready to admit to the charge of raising prices indiscriminatingly. But the Ajman Department of Municipality is not taking things lying down.

The department has formed teams to control the price rise. The teams will spread out and help supervise the prices in the markets, ensure that commodities are priced reasonably, and nobody given the opportunity to take advantage of any situation that helps the residents of Ajman lead a comfortable life, a quality life.
