Brigadier Mohammed Butti Al Rumaithi, Director-General of Security and Border Checkpoints, Abu Dhabi Police, said Minister of Interior General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued orders in this regard.

The minister has ordered the officers to deal with all people, be they labourers or white-collared, without any discrimination and in a civilised manner.

“Police officers should assist those who have to undergo eye scanning and guide them through the process,” Brig. Al Rumaithi said.

“The eye scanning procedure takes a few seconds, after which the passenger is allowed entry. All exit and entry points in the country have boxes for public complaints and suggestions. Also, there are duty officers who listen to people’s grievances,” he added.

A diplomat at the Bangladeshi embassy in Abu Dhabi had earlier said that an official of the Education Ministry of Bangladesh was witness to “maltreatment” of Bangladeshi workers at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
