Yusuffali MA won the Global Indian award for his contributions as an NRI businessman in furthering India's bilateral ties with the Middle East and for generating the highest employment opportunity for Indians abroad.
Murali Deora, Union Minister for Petroleum and Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting presented the awards.
Highlighting the role played by Yusuffali, Murali Deora said: "He is a sterling example of how sheer hard work and dedication can bring success no matter which country you work in. Not only has he built up a very successful business empire he has been always regarded as a bridge between India and the Gulf countries. His love for India is very clearly visible in the fact that 80 per cent of his staff of 15,000 is from India. As the first Indian to win a government body election in the Middle East for the post of Director Board Member of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industries, he has proved the fact that he is a true Global Indian deserving to be honoured."
Yusuffali said: "This indeed is a proud moment for me and I am honoured to be among the winners today."
"Though I am based abroad, I am a proud Indian and will continue to do my bit for the further development of India and Indians."
