A decision to this effect has been taken by the Environment Protection Department in the emirate, and it will implement the measure with assistance from RAK Municipality.
This measure will reduce the air pollution caused by the dust-laden tyres of heavy trucks and trailers coming from mining and stone blasting areas, said a senior official of the Environment Protection Department.
The official said that scores of residents had lodged complaints to the Department about the heavy vehicles causing air pollution in the emirate.
The official noted that the measure would reduce dust in the environment and also help maintain cleanliness in the emirate.
“We have already contracted one of the stone blasting companies in the emirate to establish a tyre washing bay near the mining and stone blasting areas for the cleaning of tyres before the trucks enter the main roads,” the official added.
